Geneva, Switzerland

Rosé 2020 by KYRRO x. Cédric Delacquis is the most personal and elegant rosé wine. Designed to accompany you in your most beautiful emotions, it offers new sensations on the nose and in the mouth. It gives you the freedom to choose what will be your best moments.

We have created the future of Rosé.

An innovative blend, a reflection of the diversity of the Swiss terroir, of creativity, and of the universe.

The structure and strength of Pinot Gris, and the elegance of Gewürztraminer combine to form the first Rosé made 100% from white grape varieties.

A deep color

Emerald red with pink and orange reflections

A bewitching bouquet

The enchantment of floral notes, scents of lychee and bright red fruits

Berry-like sweetness disperses and lightens.

A harmonious balance between fruitiness and freshness.

A refreshing finish with a deliciously bittersweet note of pink grapefruit and lychee, accompanied by silky tannins.

Vision

At the twilight of a harvest, a decision is made to pay homage to the time that inevitably passes away. Initiatory journey in pursuit of ataraxia, tranquility of the soul; pursuit evolving into a duty to transmit simple pleasures. Sincerity in the face of natural phenomena. Fascination for the act of transformation, perpetual metamorphosis of the living. Where does the substance stop? Where does the experience begin? Celebrating the vine through its alterations; decode its mysteries. From a millennial tradition, to draw the right gesture, the beautiful gesture.

Confection

Touch the vineyards of French-speaking Switzerland with your palms, map the native grape varieties; in search of the specific characteristics of our little-known terroirs. To become a geologist, to become a historian, to become an alchemist - the time of a deliberately slowed down process to cut the wine gems that will make up each of the creations. Do not upset the natural cycle, let the grapes sublimate themselves to the ascetic rhythm of the lunar phases. Experiment, stray, start over. Tirelessly. Refuse filters and artifice. Convert the ardor of the creator into a fragile balance; exaltation of centuries-old craftsmanship paired with contemporary sensibility.

Promise

Expression of a Geneva goldsmith, each assembly seeks to tell through its body, its reflection, its complex colors, its anecdotes. Willingly audacious, these iconoclastic incarnations, harvested by hand, seduce by the amplitude of their range. Where the aromas, chiseled by the natural decantation, lull the sensations, it is a question of surprising - without whims - and of offering an ephemeral plenitude. From bottles filled with voluptuousness, we will detect the maze of time, the labor of man.

Gold medal at the Mondial des Pinots 2021

It has now been several years since Laurent Lozano, an immensely generous enthusiast, took over the Vaudijon estate. This majestic building, located on an exceptional terroir, had not produced wine for more than a century. As soon as he arrived, Laurent undertook a titanic task and made the whole estate organic and biodynamic. The transition is now complete and nature has now become accustomed to being cultivated and no longer exploited.

And then Laurent does not allow himself to be influenced by the effects of fashion or consumption. On its plots, you will only find Chasselas, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. A purist, who works in harmony with his terroir. And it shows in the glass!

This Pinot Noir offers us magnificent aromas of cherry, Morello cherry and flowers. It comes, without fear, to play shoulders with the greatest Pinots of the region (even from overseas) with its lively mouth with spicy notes and dense tannins. Its generous and delicate finish leaves an unforgettable memory, which can be further accentuated by decanting it beforehand.

I could talk for hours about this estate and its owner-oenologist as they marked me in the depths of my emotions. And it's the same thing that transpired when I had this wine tasted by friends who knew neither the estate nor the character... Like what, everything is felt in the bottle.

When a nose reveals an aromatic palette of such intensity and complexity, one can expect great discoveries. An appreciation confirmed by the sensory impression of the Clos Fontà bouquet. This cuvée is distinguished by its harmony and deep structure. Elegance does not exclude substance, and the velvety tannins can go very well with a fruity structure, as evidenced by this successful blend. The interaction between the structural elements reaches heights reserved for very great wines. It is a delight and a pleasure to taste this cru whose qualities will even be further magnified after a few years of aging in the bottle.

Rocks and woods, unfathomable natural springs, sunny and steeply sloping traditional "coster" vineyards that top it off is the Masia or farmhouse with its ancient underground cellars. It is solidly built, high and protected by the nearby mountain of Sarraí. A dream has come true in this remote corner of the region known as the "Historical Priorat". It is framed by the limestone cliffs of the Cordillera Montsant and Llaberia, caressed by the north wind from Serè and the wind from the sea of Garbinada from the southeast, this place can only be understood as a single unit, a single domain .

The domain

At 350 meters above sea level, Mas d'en Gil extends over an area of 125 hectares in the municipality of Bellmunt del Priorat, south of the Designation of Origin Priorat. You could say that the estate, spread over five valleys, is a scale model of this mountainous region known as Priorat. The Private Reserve range from Bratanov is a very confidential selection, only 5,130 bottles of this wine have been produced.

Very interesting and fine aromas with mineral undertones, citrus fruits, mango and peaches. On the palate - light creamy and vanilla tones.

Direct and dry taste with a good structure and a long effect. In the aftertaste dominate the nuances of lime.

The maturity of the vintage gives the impression of being expansive, even if the structure of the wine is racy and tight. It packs a lot of youthful tension, feeling firm and clean at the moment. The long-lasting yellow herbal scent should evolve into a more fruity tone with age. A very good potential for keeping in the cellar.

The bouquet reveals a palette of aromas reminiscent of black berries (blackberries, blackcurrants), dried herbs, hay and vanilla. The positive sensory impression continues nicely on the palate, where velvety tannins blend harmoniously with a powerful body and fruity structure. It is a convincing red wine that finds its crowning glory in the finish.

The cave

Although Bodegas Aragonesas was founded in 1984, the cultivation of vines - in particular Grenache - dates back to 1145 and the Cistercian monks of the monastery of Veruela, located a short distance from Fuendejalón and Magallón.

Their ancestors inherited this precious and historical heritage and they, the following generations, enriched it to reach its full potential.

They express their love for Grenache on the land and in the cellar. They know it's an essential part of their heritage and they do their best to continuously improve their growing and winemaking methods.

Their brands, Fagus in particular, are the jewels of their cellar. They enjoy an international reputation that has earned them numerous awards and accolades.

Terroir

Their 3,700 hectares of vines give them a symphony of colors. The red and stony soil offers the best environment for their main grape varieties: Garnacha, Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Mazuela, Chardonnay, Macabeo and Muscat.

These vigorous and robust vineyards, some of which are over 100 years old, are firmly planted in unrivaled land which, combined with a harsh climate, gives the grapes their special quality and personality.

France, Bordeaux, Pessac-Legonan

To begin with, you should know that this Bordeaux wine (whose reputation is second to none) is absolutely ideal for anyone who wishes to discover the wines of this region.

But why do I say that this wine is ideal for discovering Bordeaux? I remember my memories, when I started to really like wine and to be interested in it. The overpowering wines with super difficult tannins and surprising aromas that can be found in these regions scared me. So I was guided to the Graves region and more specifically the Pessac-Léognan appellation. It was an instant hit! Wines rich in flavors and perfumes, taking me on a journey like few have done before, colors that even Matisse would not have dared to imagine, in short, a real emotional whirlwind! Moreover, "Pessac" has remained forever engraved in my heart and today I always like to go back there as often as possible to discover this inimitable terroir. Isn't that the typical sign of a great terroir? to be as attractive for beginners as for... experienced drinkers!?

To go into a little more detail, since Château Malartic-Lagravière was taken over by Alfred-Alexandre Bonnie, nothing is the same! The uncompromising organization has resulted in a significant improvement in quality, which greatly benefits the second wine, Réserve de Malartic. The subtle and complex bouquet, accompanied by fruity aromas and maturation, evokes a classic Bordeaux. Velvety and powerful tannins combined with a carefully measured fruity acidity form the basis of this well-structured red wine typical of Graves, which seduces with its blend, its elegance and its substance. The velvety and delicious character combines with the controlled power of the terroir in a dense and sustained finish.

If I were you, I would go for it!

Terroir

Château Malartic-Lagravière is located on a high terrace deeply cut by the Eau Blanche stream and its tributaries. It is formed over 8 meters deep from gravelly islets dating from the Quaternary era.
The evocative name of "Lagravière" underlines the high quality of the soils of this vineyard, recognized for being located on the most beautiful gravel hilltop of Léognan.

While the gravel layer provides excellent surface drainage, the shelly limestone subsoil, made up of fossils from warm seas and clay veins, retains a significant water reserve. It ensures perfect water supply to the vines, even during the most severe droughts.
A very permeable soil, optimal sunshine, reduced sensitivity to climatic variations are eminently favorable factors. This, especially since they are optimized from year to year by the tailor-made management of the vines initiated by the Bonnie family upon their arrival.

Sustainable development

The Bonnie Family has always been attentive to the environment of its vineyard and the impact of the work carried out by its teams on the vines, the grapes, but also on the neighborhood: habitats, fauna, flora and nearby waterways. plots. Several large-scale best practices have been implemented on the estate since 1997, such as the reasoned management of the vine (integral ploughing, zero herbicides, reasoned treatments, integrated pest management practices (plantings of km of diversified hedges, flowered fallows, etc.)

The property has been certified since 2008 in sustainable agriculture.

Vinification and Aging

Designed with the architect Bernard Mazières in 1998, the Malartic-Lagravière cellar is one of the first to house an entirely gravity-driven grape transport process: manual harvesting in crates, double sorting with vibrating tables, grape transport exclusively by gravity (vats then barrels).

The vat room is also very innovative.
Octagonal, it is made up of 20 stainless steel vats and 10 tapered and thermoregulated wooden vats, which allow, due to their small size, personalized vinification plot by plot.

After the assembly, which requires all the care of the owners, the oenologists and the cellar master, the wine will rest in an air-conditioned cellar with regulated humidity, containing 1200 barrels, half of which are renewed each year by the best coopers.

Between the two is the tasting room, where the blends are elaborated with the greatest care. With the advice of the oenologist Michel Rolland, the owners and the cellar master seek to accompany by a certain structure the complexity and the elegance which characterize the wines of Malartic-Lagravière, in order to give birth to great wines for laying down. .

I actually discovered Abadia Retuerta in 2018 during a trip to Spain from Madrid to Barcelona, stopping at many areas. I could speak for hours of the beauty of the estate, of the wonderful people who received us, of the hotel in the middle of the vineyards simply named "Le Domaine", an old abbey dating from 1146 which had been abandoned and which was restored with exceptional care and attention to detail by Abadia. But it is on this last point that I will develop my explanation of this area: "care and attention to detail". In Switzerland, there is a watch brand called "Greubel & Forsey" and their slogan is “watch inventors.” For me, Abadia Retuerta are “wine inventors”. They are such enthusiasts that they have been joined by the best since in particular the facilities were designed by Pascal Delbeck, owner of the exceptional Château Ausonne. They planted, studied, created and developed methods specially adapted to their terroir to offer us wonderful wines.

The Selección Especial, entry level of the estate is nonetheless a great wine. It's like pushing open the door of an abbey and then, once inside, discovering a fresco by Michelangelo; marvel at these features mixing fruit and acid as well as intense perfumes to finally find yourself admiring next to a gentleman with a face that lets you imagine thousands of stories, smoking his cigar, too, although having an immense life experience, in awe of the detail and smooth finesse of this work...

The cave

Abadía Retuerta is a Spanish winery founded in 1996. The estate is located just outside the boundary of the Ribera del Duero region, in the province of Castilla y León, in north central Spain, near the village of Sardon del Duero. Located 32km east of the city of Valladolid, it sits in wine estates that stretch from Tudela de Duero to Peñafiel, known as the "golden mile". In particular, it is only a few kilometers from the famous producer Vega Sicilia.

The domain

The Abadía Retuerta estate extends over 710 ha, of which 210 ha are planted with vines. The altitude is 640 m near the Duero River and rises to about 780 m. The composition of the soil is heterogeneous, with sand, clay and some gravel near the river and limestone interspersed with aggregate boulders and stones on the top of the hill. The climate is extremely continental and semi-desert, with hot summers, cold winters and average annual rainfall of 300 mm to 450 mm. Being outside the DO Ribera del Duero allows them to use drip irrigation when they need it. The 54 plots extend over 206 hectares (HA) of which 146 are planted with Tempranillo, 40 with Cabernet Sauvignon, 16 with Merlot, 2 with Syrah and 2 with Petit Verdot.

The installations

The winemaking facilities were designed by consultant oenologist Pascal Delbeck, owner of Château Ausone, who still works with the estate and Angel Anocíbar. The winery is designed around a gravity flow system and has a laboratory and a 5,000 barrel capacity aging cellar carved into the side of the adjacent mountain. Wines can be aged in the 80 stainless steel vats, or in any combination of the 3,700 225-litre Bordeaux-style barrels, made from 80% French oak and 20% American oak. Some French oak comes from Limousin forests, others from Allier trees. Humidity and temperature are maintained at optimum levels for wine development.

It is also important to note that 2016 was an exceptional vintage in Châteauneuf, worthy of the greatest and most famous, such as 2010 to name only the most recent.

This wine will be ideal with your dishes based on red meat, or a delicious starter with mushrooms (like a small soup of broccoli with Colman's mustard with its pan-fried porcini mushrooms with shallots), or even some cheeses, if you prefer red with these...

In the beginning was a pope

We like to think that it was wine that attracted the papacy to Avignon in the 14th century. The suite of Jean XXII indeed included the winegrowers at the origin of the restoration of the vineyards and their viticultural practices. They shaped the character of their wines and thus opened their borders to Europe. These wines were so delicious that when the pope returned to Rome, the cardinals showed some reluctance "How to live happily without the nectar of the gods?"...

The Sénéchaux Woods

The Domaine des Sénéchaux is one of the oldest vineyards in its illustrious appellation. The existence of vines is indeed attested there from the 14th century.

The estate takes its name from "Bois Sénéchaux", one of its main plots.

In the 1950s, under the direction of the Raynaud family, the vineyard already covered its current area. In 1993, the estate passed into the hands of Pascal Roux who undertook a complete restructuring of the vines and a renovation of the cellars.

Under the direction of Bernard Tranchecoste for two decades, the estate has undergone a profound restructuring. Thus the implementation of virtuous techniques such as short pruning, tillage, organic fertilization, leaf stripping or manual harvesting have enabled the extensive renovation of the vineyard.

The Cazes family, owner of several wine estates, including the Lynch-Bages and Haut-Batailley castles in Pauillac, acquired the Domaine des Sénéchaux in 2006. From then on, they endeavored to continue improving the vineyard by providing special care for plant material while respecting the environment. In 2018, the partnership concluded with the Pradon family, which became co-owners, brought new impetus to the property .

Terroir

You will find them in the south of the Rhône valley, on the famous plateau of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Their largest and most homogeneous plots extend over five very distinct growing areas. They form the soil of their main red grape varieties: Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre.
On the slopes facing south and south-west, these three grape varieties represent 22.4 of their 27 hectares of vines. In addition, they are fortunate to enjoy a terroir conducive to the cultivation of white grape varieties. They occupy 3 hectares on the highest point of the vineyard and produce wines of remarkable freshness.

Summers are long and hot. The mistral with its prodigious force, chases away mist and humidity and promotes summer drought while limiting vine diseases. Its breath is a real asset for the Châteauneuf-du-Pape vineyard on the eve of the harvest, it also increases the sugar concentration of the grapes and dries them after the rain.

Thanks to these climatic characteristics, their red grape varieties are rich, structured and spicy. As for the white grape varieties, mostly located on the highest point of the estate, they draw their delicious freshness from a northern exposure.

The soils of Châteauneuf-du-Pape result from the combination of the Alpine diluvium and the retreat of the Rhône over a period of several million years encompassing four ice ages. This exceptional terroir , poor by nature, because it is rich in gravel and rolled pebbles, is conducive to retaining heat and ripening the grapes early. The soils of their plots are characterized by their variety. The common denominator for all of their plots, however, remains the presence of a clay base promoting a certain water retention and resistance to water stress. While their white grape varieties thrive on superficial sandy-clay soils, the reds grow on quartzite pebbles resting on three types of subsoil: stony clay-limestone, deep sandy and mollassic and safre sandstone.

The intense attack the nose develops a palette of fruity aromas (cherry, prune), coupled with discreet notes of spices and aging (tobacco, cedar wood, roasted aromas) – announces an exciting tasting. And indeed, this Ticino Merlot gradually reveals many facets. At first, it is the typical aromas of the grape variety that dominate. Then we let ourselves be seduced by the fat and the rich and very ripe fruitiness. Finally, the palate and the finish of a good length reveal succulent tannins associated with a fresh and fruity acid structure.

Switzerland, Bonvillars

Le Patrimoine Blanc AOC Bonvillars is a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Gris. The freshness and minerality of Chardonnay as well as the body and fruitiness of Pinot Gris give this wine a complexity with finesse. We love it as an aperitif!

Each grape variety is picked and then vinified separately. Short maceration then soft pressing. This is followed by aging in barrels for between 8 to 10 months depending on the vintage.

AWARDS

93/100 - Robert Parker

The cave

It is an area filled with steep slate hillsides, Mediterranean forests, interspersed with Garnatxa (Grenache) and Carinyena (Carignan) vineyards and olive, hazelnut and almond groves.

France, Sauternes

The wine smells of honey, white flowers and peach. A fresh and at the same time lush and full-bodied palate, a complex taste universe with a note of dried apricots.

I recently had the opportunity to compare it with its elder from 1995. We feel the very high quality put into the creation of this wine, thus creating a beverage that passes the years in an exceptional way! You could tell the '95 had once had the rich freshness that its younger sibling the 2009 has, but other flavors had developed. It is therefore prudent to order a case of this feat of Sauternes, as its quality/price ratio is incredible, in order to be able to see its evolution over the years.

The extremely positive first impression that strikes in this excellent cru is its harmony as well as the balance between sweetness and acidity which develops from the bouquet to the finish of infinite length. The aromas are great: sweet, dried fruits (apricots, dates), but also marzipan and a touch of bitterness from noble rot (Botrytis cinerea). The palate reveals a balance, finesse and complexity that can only be found in the Premiers Crus Classés of this prestigious and world-famous appellation that is Sauternes. These various sensations merge into a whole in the finale.

Deep dark ruby garnet, purple reflections, delicate edge highlighting. Fine woody notes underpinned by delicate nougat, sweet spices, ripe cherries, dark minerality, ripe plums in the background. Very powerful with a soft alcohol of 15.5 vol., the texture is more like a Zinfandel, soft and persistent, a literally breathtaking wine.
